What do you want to do?

As a mechanical engineer, you will be part of our engineering team. Within this team, you work closely with researchers from different research groups within TNO to develop the best process installations or special equipment from idea to work system based on your technical insight. These are often first-class designs of a very different nature, with a strongly interdisciplinary character. Your work is therefore very varied. In addition to mechanical engineering issues, you are also involved in preparing proposals, obtaining and evaluating offers and with selection and external inquiry of components. For example, for the realization of a demonstration plant for the production of ammonia from process gases in the steel industry or for a test set-up for the production of chemicals from seaweed.

What we expect from you

You can quickly become immersed in the specific problems of a project or design. You are goal-oriented and know how to get from a mechanical problem to a practical result. You’re pragmatic.
You can act as a sparring partner for the researchers and come up with ideas and solutions for an optimal design. You switch seamlessly between different tasks and projects, and you can work well with researchers on the one hand and your colleagues and suppliers on the other. You can summarize the information you collect in clear, concise overviews and status reports. Finally, you work in a structured way and you contribute to the further improvement of working and measuring methods.

What else do you bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • At least two years’ experience, which means that you are independently able to deliver a detailed design based on your own 3D design with associated analytical contributions from, among others, FEM and / or MathCad.
  • You have experience with Creo Elements Direct Modeling, or are motivated to learn it.
  • If you have experience with PED, that’s a plus.
  • Good communication skills in Dutch (language of suppliers and contractors) and preferably also in English (the official language in a significant part of the workplace).

What does the process look like?

You can reply until June 6th. The application procedure consists of two rounds of interviews. The first round is scheduled for June 15th. At a final meeting, we will discuss the terms of employment that you put together yourself. We strive to complete the entire procedure within four weeks.
