Motrac expands its portfolio with new electric tractors and platform trucks from Linde Material Handling (MH). Equipped with comprehensive safety features, improved driving comfort and powerful driving technology, Linde tractor units and platform trucks provide higher throughput speeds for car and steel manufacturers, in airports and wholesale markets or in low-traffic areas.
The design of the electric tractors is reminiscent of light trucks. However, one should not be misled by the dimensions. The tractors are powerful and therefore suitable for applications where, for example, they tow heavy trailers loaded with machine parts, luggage or other heavy goods over longer distances. They are also suitable for transporting a large number of vegetable boxes on e.g. auctions. Great driving comfort for the drivers and fast and safe freight transport are the main requirements for these trucks.
The new electric tractors in the Linde P120 to P350 series have a towing capacity of 12, 18, 25, 30 and 35 tons. For the P250 model, there is an additional choice between a version with short or long wheelbase. Linde W20 and W30 platform trucks are capable of transporting loads of two and three tons, respectively. Here, too, there are options in relation to the wheelbase length.
The entire series has been completely renewed in terms of performance and ergonomics, resulting in significant potential benefits for users, says Linde. “For example, trucks have even more performance in long-distance transportation, resulting in efficiency gains,” says Sandra Karras, Product Manager Warehouse Technology, highlighting one of the product benefits. In addition, both platform trucks and tractor variants are equally manoeuvrable and safe to maneuver and are available with both lead-acid and lithium-ion batteries.
Powerful on slopes
Thanks to their electric motors, vehicles can easily cope with slopes and long distances at speeds of up to 25 kilometers per hour. In addition, the design takes into account the rules and standards that apply in demanding airport environments.
The improved ergonomics are aimed at offering the driver the best possible comfort and thus make freight transport even more productive. The spacious cabin offers a perfect working environment due to the wide, non-slip entrance, large display, comfortable seats, air conditioning, lighting and many more. other “Additional windows in the doors and roof give the driver the whole view that is so important, especially in difficult terrain. The doors are monitored electronically so that the tractor can only start with the doors closed. “
To prevent the truck from accelerating when driving downhill, the driver can activate automatic speed reduction at the touch of a button. Other safety features include a protective grille on the rear window, emergency stop switches on the right and left rear of the truck, a solid metal screen on the front of the vehicle, dual mirrors on the doors and lighting options such as the Linde BlueSpot.
Driving comfort on a new level
“Everyone who got behind the wheel of one of the new electric tractors was pleasantly surprised by the brand new driving experience,” says Karras enthusiastically. She further highlights the fully encapsulated, maintenance- and wear-free braking system as a special maintenance-poor feature that reduces maintenance costs. “Last but not least, due to the wider range of models and equipment options, there is a bespoke tractor or platform truck with the right power for everyone.”
