3 new wide-angle lenses from Sony

Sony is further expanding its range of lenses with the introduction of the power zoom G lens E PZ 10-20mm F4 G, versatile G lens E 15mm F1.4 G and ultra-wide prime E 11mm F1.8.

E PZ 10-20 mm F4 G

The E PZ 10-20mm F4 G is 20% lighter than its predecessor (SEL1018), making it the smallest and lightest lens in its class. This lens weighs only 178 grams.

In addition, the lens uses internal zoom and focus mechanisms and therefore does not change in length when zooming or focusing. Shifts in the center of gravity are minimal, making it suitable for stable vlogging and movie recording.

The E PZ 10-20 mm F4 G has an electronic power zoom system that provides instant control and adjustable zoom speed. Powerzoom minimizes camera shake so photographers can produce smooth, stable images and map buttons on supported Alpha Series cameras.

Fast-moving objects are reliably tracked when images are continuously produced at high speed.

Users can mount 62mm filters such as variable ND filters to this lens. This gives more creative control. The lens is designed to be dust and moisture repellent for increased reliability when used outdoors.

E 15 mm F1.4 G, 35 mm

A large maximum aperture of F1.4 makes it easy to produce smooth background bokeh for artistic effect. The background can be blurred so that motifs stand out clearly, or there is a nice bokeh when shooting in low light.

With a minimum focus distance of 0.17 meters and a maximum magnification of 0.15x with manual focusing, close-ups can be easily obtained for both still images and movies.

The lightweight E 15 mm F1.4 G lens weighs only 219 g and measures only 66.6 mm in diameter and 69.5 mm in length. A wide viewing angle, compact design and low weight make this lens ideal for shooting starry skies, landscapes, architecture and indoor images, as well as motifs that require mobility, such as sports.

The speed of the camera can be used to focus precisely even on moving objects. Sony’s latest lens technology reduces focus breathing, and the breath compensation in compatible α-series housings minimizes breathing that can prevent post-recording editing.

The focus mode switch allows you to quickly switch between AF and MF as needed. Finally, the E 15mm F1.4 G is designed with a dust and moisture resistance. This provides extra reliability for outdoor use in challenging conditions.

E 11mm F1.8, 35mm

The ultra-wide viewing angle of the E 11mm F1.8 is ideal for indoor shots and images that use depth of field.

E 11 mm F1.8, 35 mm ultra-wide angle APS-C prime delivers excellent corner-to-corner resolution, beautiful bokeh and fast, reliable AF. This guarantees a clearly visible expression and enhanced selfies.

The E 11mm F1.8 packs a large maximum aperture of F1.8 in a compact, lightweight lens. It weighs 181g and has a diameter of only 66 mm and a length of 57.5 mm – a perfect match for compact APS-C housings.

Here, too, Sony’s latest lens technology reduces focus breathing. In addition, an internal focus mechanism ensures that the lens length does not change during focusing.

Despite its compact size, this lens offers flexible, intuitive operation with features such as a focus button and focus mode button. A user-selected alternative function can be assigned to the focus hold button from the camera menu.

The dust and moisture resistant design provides extra reliability for outdoor use in challenging conditions.

The E 11mm F1.8 also accepts front filters, a feature often lacking from ultra-wide-angle lenses.

E PZ 10-20mm F4 G and E 15mm F1.4 G will be available in June for € 850.00, and E 11mm F1.8 will also be available in June for € 600.00.
