It’s been rumored for some time, but it’s now official. Marc and Alex Marquez have ended their partnership with their personal manager Emilio Alzamora and his AC Management agency. This puts an end to more than 17 years of collaboration.

Marc Marquez joined the Spanish racing school Monlau Competición in 2012, an initiative of Emilio Alzamora. Alzamora, former Grand Prix rider and 1999 125cc World Champion, immediately moved on as Marc Marquez’s personal manager to guide him in his #RoadtoMotoGP. A few years later, Marquez’s younger brother Alex also followed suit.

The collaboration was a resounding success, Marc Marquez won no less than eight world titles, while Alex Marquez managed to achieve two in the Moto3 and Moto2 classes respectively.

Recently, it has been noted that Alzamora was not present and did not accompany the Marquez brothers during the Grand Prix weekends, something that recently led to the first rumors in Austria of a possible termination of the collaboration.

These rumors turned out to be true, because on Wednesday, August 31, brothers Marquez and Emilio Alzamora announced through a press release sent by AC management that their collaboration has indeed ended.

Below is the full press release sent by AC Management:

Brothers Marquez and Emilio Alzamora announce that they have mutually decided to separate after a fruitful relationship of 18 years.

Emilio started working with Marc when he was 12 years old and enrolled him in his training school. Later, he also began managing the career of Alex Márquez, three years his junior. In all these years, Marc won 8 world titles and Alex 2, establishing himself as a reference in the MotoGP championship.

“The Márquez brothers would like to thank Emilio for his work over the years and his dedication during this time of great achievements. After discussing it with the three of us, we have decided that the time has come to change paths and start a new phase”.

Emilio Alzamora, for his part, assures that “an important phase of my life is coming to an end with the Márquez brothers, and I want to thank above all the trust shown in me by their parents, Roser and Julià. During this long relationship we have worked together with Marc and Alex to achieve great and unforgettable successes”.

“From AC Management, we have worked and contributed with all our experience in managing their sports career, so that the Márquez brothers have achieved their great image and are respected both professionally and personally. Marc and Alex’s professional successes would not have been possible without the cooperation of countless people who have supported them from the start and guided us to the top. I would also like to express my gratitude to all the sponsors, teams and professionals who trusted in every step we took to achieve the successes of these years.”

Emilio on the relationship with Marc: “I have no words to describe this story, which we started when Marc was 12 years old and where I humbly contributed all my knowledge. Together we have lived unforgettable and incredible moments, but also difficult moments such as injuries. I have no doubt that in this new phase Marc will return to the top to continue making history and above all, most importantly, continue to enjoy his passion”.

As for Alex, Alzamora emphasizes that “he has been an example as an athlete. His work, sacrifice and professionalism have made him hone his great talent and without a doubt I feel very proud of everything I have been able to give him to make his dreams come true. I’m sure Alex’s best is yet to come.”

New management
Jaime Martinez will now look after the interests of the two Marquez brothers. The 34-year-old Spaniard, a former professional wakeboarder (Red Bull athlete) and currently Head of Motorsport Marketing at Red Bull Spain, has worked closely with brother Marquez in recent years from his position at Red Bull Spain and is therefore not stranger to the family.
