In our last crypto update for now, we look at the live Bitcoin (BTC) price and the prices of the top 25 cryptos after the US markets close. Then we’ll see how the SEC provides clarity on the upcoming crypto law and how ticket seller Ticketmaster gets into NFTs. Finally, we tell you which hapless crypto criminal is facing more than 40,000 years in prison.
Of course, we start with the live Bitcoin (BTC) price and the prices of the top 25 cryptos.
Live Bitcoin (BTC) price and top 25 crypto prices are rising
At the time of writing, the price of live Bitcoin (BTC) is EUR 20,226.05 ($20,154.27). This is 1.25% higher than during our crypto update yesterday.
The prices of most cryptos in the top 25 are also rising. The biggest gain is currently +7.67% for Leo Token (LEO). However, there are also some losers. Tron (TRX) is currently bottoming out at -2.02%. On Tradeincrypto.com’s site you can analyze all the live crypto prices 24 hours a day.
The SEC shows in a roundabout way which criteria apply to crypto as a security
The SEC still has no formal crypto rules stating when a crypto would be a security. The US crypto law is also still under way, and this creates uncertainty in the market. In an effort to find out the SEC criteria, Nasdaq delved into the correspondence between Grayscale and the SEC. SEC asked to analyze Zcash (ZEC), Horizen (ZEN) and Stellar (XLM). The SEC also reportedly hinted that they believe these cryptos may be securities. Based on this, analysts arrive at the following preliminary criteria. A crypto can be seen as security if:
- The structure is similar to that of Ripple (XRP) and backing entities (as is the case with Stellar);
- When there is a central entity behind a crypto coin and profit is promised from that entity (as with ZEN).
- When a premine is distributed and some form of mining is charged for the benefit of the organization behind the coin (as with ZCash).
Ticketmaster enters the sale of NFTs
Ticketmaster is a well-known seller of tickets for concerts and events. Today it was announced that it is marketing NFTs. In cooperation with the organizers, the NFTs get collector status and proof of participation in the event.
It is not intended that the NFT can be used as an access card. So you buy NFT in addition to an entrance ticket. The NFTs can be transferred via the Flow blockchain, which is known to be nature and environment friendly. Creating an NFT on Flowchain takes less energy than performing a search on Google or making an Instagram post. Ticketmaster has already produced 5 million NFTs.
BECAUSE changes, but crypto news remains
As of tomorrow (September 1st), as we explained this afternoon, we will stop the daily Bitcoin and crypto updates.
Instead, we still offer you twice a week insight into the development of the crypto market based on current overviews. Of course, you can also continue to consult live Bitcoin and crypto prices 24/7 with our colleagues at Tradeincrypto.com. We will of course look at whether we see sufficient opportunity in the future to come back daily.
Unlucky crypto-criminal awaits 40,000 years in Turkish prison
Faruk Fatih Özer was the CEO of the Turkish crypto exchange Thodex until April 2021. In April 2021, he decided it was time for something new. They left the country and took about $2 billion with them. In doing so, he left 400,000 Thodex customers sad and destitute.
The Turkish investigative services naturally went after it and this Izer has now been arrested in Albania and is awaiting extradition to Turkey. Since one can claim a sentence for each of the victims, the total prison sentence that Özel could receive is about 40,564 years.
