Building a sustainable customer relationship and being able to really mean something to your customers: that’s what gives you energy as a customer relationship manager at Van Dale Uitgevers in Utrecht, the leading brand in language. Thanks to you, teachers and students from, for example, secondary schools can get started with our beautiful (digital) language products. A commercial-strategic role with social relevance.

This is what you want to do

As a customer manager, you are the specialist in aftersales. You maintain the relationship with the contact persons at your main customers: (secondary) schools. Think teachers, section leaders and IT support staff. They shape teaching activities using our products, such as special – often digital – school dictionaries and our app. Universities, translators and ministries are also our customers. You know how to optimally support and facilitate them, for example by pointing out (unknown) functionalities, useful ways to implement in electronic learning environments and of course other products from the Van Dale portfolio.

Satisfied customers: that’s what you’re in it for. So they can help students, employees or other stakeholders. You keep a close eye on where needs and opportunities lie, what customers have questions about and what suits them well. Sometimes you go to work at the customer’s place or you are at an interesting fair. You usually work from home or at our renovated office in Utrecht. And what could be more fun than doing it for Van Dale, where we are constantly working with the language and thus connecting the community?

Your tasks summarized:

  • You support our multi-user customers with connection, renewal and use of our online products.
  • You identify customer and user needs and wants in terms of new features or improvements to existing features, while using cross- and up-selling.
  • You identify sales opportunities together with the account managers, and you keep customer data up to date. You think about communication and campaigns with colleagues from marketing.
  • You spar with the technical project manager about product improvement and with the help desk about opportunities to optimize customer relations.
  • Sometimes you give courses, demos or webinars about Van Dale online products.

Van Dale Publishers is a leading modern multimedia publisher. We are actively involved in the development and sale of educational language products such as (online) dictionaries, grammar books, phrasebooks and online language teaching. We do this for companies and for the education market such as youth education, but also higher education and adult education and for non-native speakers (NT2). Quality is our highest priority. As Van Dale Publishers, we operate as an independent publisher in the VBK|Media group on Herculesplein in Utrecht.

You work together with around fifteen driven and ambitious professionals with a love for languages. Think account managers, marketers and the technical project manager. The working environment in our office is informal, we like to help each other, and we put our shoulders to the wheel together to give our customers the best possible service with attractive offers. As a customer manager, you report to the new business manager.

It is you

You have good social and communication skills: you are, after all, an ambassador for the language institute in the Netherlands. You are also decisive, for example when you ask for customer wishes and (ICT) prerequisites. You like to solve problems and think proactively, because that’s how you really help your relationships. In addition, you like to achieve results and you have commercial insight.

You also bring:

  • HBO working and thinking level.
  • Several years of experience in a similar position.
  • Affinity with IT, online applications and CRM.
  • Good Dutch speaking and writing skills.
