Transport Online – DAF introduces new range of distribution trucks at IAA

HANNOVER – At IAA Transportation 2022, DAF is introducing a completely new series of trucks for distribution transport and for specific deployment areas. The new generation of the DAF XD series shares its DNA with the ‘International Truck of the Year 2022’, the multiple award-winning XF, XG and XG⁺ long-haul trucks. The new generation of DAF XD sets new standards in its class in terms of safety, efficiency and driver comfort.

The new standard in security

The cabin design of the New Generation DAF XD is characterized by a large windscreen and large side windows with very low window lines for the best direct view in this class. The low cab position (17cm lower than on the new XF) also contributes to this, as does the new ‘Vision Dashboard’. This slopes steeply towards the windscreen on the passenger side.

A Curb View Window is available on the passenger side as an option, which in combination with the folding passenger seat provides an unobstructed view of pedestrians and cyclists next to the truck. The DAF Digital Camera System and DAF Corner View contribute to an unparalleled indirect view. DAF City Turn Assist warns the driver with visual and audible signals when other road users are in the blind spot on the passenger side.

The new standard in efficiency

The aerodynamic cabin contributes to extremely low fuel consumption and correspondingly low CO2 emissions. The tapered cab of the XD shares its large radius, curved windscreen, optimal seals and perfect airflow in and around the engine compartment with DAF’s long-haul models: XF, XG and XG⁺. Class-leading vehicle efficiency is further enhanced by the new PACCAR MX-11 engine, smart exhaust aftertreatment system, low vehicle weight, standard TraXon automatic transmission and advanced driver support systems while driving. The extensive range of power take-offs, mounting modules and connectors ensures maximum ease of installation.

The new standard in driver comfort

The New Generation XD comes with excellent, easily accessible and spacious cabins with volumes up to 10 m3. In addition to a Sleep and a Sleep High Cab, a Day Cab is available as standard, which has an extra extension behind the seats for a lot of interior space.
The ideal seating position for the driver is guaranteed by an unrivaled adjustment range of both the seat and the steering wheel. The eye-catching and ergonomic dashboard has crystal clear and fully digital displays. The combination of a redesigned front of the chassis, a new cabin suspension and a new rear axle suspension also make the XD a great ride.

Excellent versatility

The new generation DAF XD can now be ordered and is available in a wide range of 4×2 and 6×2 axle configurations, both tractor and rigid. Production will begin in autumn 2022.

The all-new DAF XD for distribution transport is the perfect option for both owner and driver.

DAF XDC and XFC for special applications and construction

At IAA Transportation 2022, DAF will also present the new generation of DAF XDC and XFC. This range of high performance construction vehicles includes two, three and four axle configurations as well as single or dual drive configurations. DAF therefore supplies the ideal tailor-made truck for almost any specific application in the construction segment.

High payload and robust design

The new generation XDC is available with the 10.8 liter PACCAR MX-11 engine. The XFC is also available with the 12.9 liter PACCAR MX-13 engine. Both models have a high payload thanks to their low curb weight. The XDC and XFC are designed for hard work in challenging conditions and therefore have an extra robust bumper and a steel radiator protection plate. The XDC and XFC – which are also characterized externally by a robust grille – have a large approach angle and high ground clearance for excellent off-road performance.

The new series of premium DAF trucks for special applications and the construction sector can be ordered from now. Production will start in early 2023.

The new 2-, 3- and 4-axle DAF XDC and XFC trucks are the perfect vehicles for both special applications and the construction segment. They combine high payload with excellent off-road performance and a robust design.

DAF announces new generation of DAF XD Electric and XF Electric

DAF Trucks strengthens its position as a leading manufacturer of zero-emission vehicles with the introduction of the new XD Electric and XF Electric. These innovative trucks are equipped with completely new, modular powertrains for ‘zero emission ranges’ from 200 to more than 500 kilometers. The DAF XD Electric and DAF XF Electric will be available as a tractor and as a rigid and can be ordered from now.

To optimally adapt the new DAF XD Electric and XF Electric to customer needs, the efficient and reliable PACCAR e-engines deliver power from 170 to 350 kW (230 to 480 hp). In combination with battery assemblies with up to 5 packs in total, the total full electric range can reach more than 500 kilometers – depending of course on the deployment and conditions.

Fast charging and AC charging options

The new generation XD Electric and XF Electric are suitable for fast charging with capacities up to 325 kW. A battery with three packs can therefore be charged from 0 to 80% of its capacity in just over 45 minutes. The optional built-in charger allows charging with alternating current (AC) up to 22 kW. This provides the flexibility to use the vehicle even when direct current (DC) chargers are not available.

Built in Eindhoven

The innovative DAF XD Electric and XF Electric are assembled on a completely new production line in Eindhoven. Production will start in 2023.
With the all-new, modular EV powertrains, DAF is once again taking the lead in emission-free transport and offering its customers first-class, fully electric truck solutions.

New versions of the DAF XF ‘International Truck of the Year 2022’

At IAA Transportation 2022, DAF will also introduce new versions of the New XF – ‘International Truck of the Year 2022’. It is now also available with Day and Sleep Cab, in addition to the existing Sleep High variant.

With the expansion of the new generation XD, XF, XG and XG⁺, with a choice of chassis and cab variants, DAF offers the most advanced trucks for every application: from distribution to long-distance transport, from heavy transport to construction.
