DAF presents new trucks for the construction segment at Bauma, the world’s largest trade fair for the construction sector, which takes place in Munich from 24 to 30 October. The new DAF XDC and XFC share their DNA with the ‘International Trucks of the Year’ 2022 and 2023, XD, XF, XG and XG+.
2-, 3- and 4-axis XDC and XFC are available with single or double drive. Both construction trucks are specially developed for heavy work in harsh conditions.
The DAF XDC and XFC have a large approach angle of 25 degrees and a huge ground clearance of 33 to 39 centimeters, depending on the specification. DAF construction vehicles have a robust design with a solid, 3-part steel bumper, a grille with black slats and come as standard with a steel plate that protects the radiator. The vehicles form the ideal basis for dump trucks, concrete mixers, hook lifts and other task-specific bodies.
Like their paved road siblings, the New Generation XDC and XFC use the new PACCAR MX-11 and MX-13 engines. These deliver powers of up to 390 kW/530 hp.
All DAF Construction vehicles are equipped with the TraXon automatic transmission and equipped with a special off-road setting for optimal shifting performance in challenging terrain. Shifting is extremely quick and at high(er) speeds for maximum performance on uneven or hilly terrain. In addition, the XDC and XFC always automatically select the correct starting gear. Also new are ‘ASR Off’ and ‘Rock Free’ for optimal traction on smooth road surfaces or to be able to drive away from, for example, loose sand or gravel.
Bodybuilder friendliness is unsurpassed thanks to, among other things, the highly flexible layout of chassis components, such as the EAS, battery box and air barrels on the one hand, and the availability of a full range of PTOs, mounting modules and connections on the other.
The large windscreen and side windows of the New Generation DAF XDC and XFC have the same extremely low window lines that all New Generation DAF models are praised for, resulting in the best direct view in their class. A Curb View Window is available as an option, which – in combination with the folding passenger seat – provides an unobstructed view of pedestrians and cyclists who are next to the truck on the passenger side. The new DAF Vision Dashboard, which slopes steeply towards the windscreen on the passenger side, also contributes to excellent direct visibility. This dashboard is standard on both XDC and XFC.
For first-class indirect vision, the New Generation DAF XD can be equipped with the DAF Digital Vision System, which replaces the main and wide-angle mirrors. The superior DAF Corner View provides a maximum view of no less than 285 degrees of the surroundings around the A-pillar in the cab on the passenger side.
Full LED exterior lighting is standard on all XDC and XFC versions and also contributes to safety.
Thanks to ergonomically placed steps and a steering wheel that can be set in a vertical parking position, first-class driver comfort starts with excellent cabin accessibility. The adjustment range for the seats and steering wheel is also unprecedented, as is the spacious feel of the cabin and the excellent storage space. The Day Cab has an extra large cabin for more interior space. A comfortable third seat or a large refrigerator are available as optional extras from the factory.
The new XDC and XFC also feature the distinctive dashboard from the rest of the New Generation range, including the fully digital instrument panels. The superior handling benefits from a completely redesigned front of the chassis and a new cabin suspension.
As seen at Bauma, DAF works with leading bodybuilders to guarantee the highest quality, efficiency and fastest vehicle availability. Optimally pre-specified truck-body combinations also accelerate the ordering process, with the first fully built vehicles ready for delivery in the first quarter of 2023.
