Timeless design: Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio further refined

Alfa Romeo presents the updated and even more refined Giulia and Stelvio, with a new face that shows a clear family resemblance to the Alfa Romeo Tonale on both models. The Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio still impress with their characteristic Alfa Romeo qualities – perfect weight distribution, the best driving dynamics in their segment, the best technical and technological solutions – and their timeless design, which turns every Alfa Romeo into a driving work of art. The new Giulia and Stelvio will be in the showrooms of Dutch Alfa Romeo dealers from the first quarter of 2023.

A new look

Striking The front of both the new Giulia and the new Stelvio. The central grille, which naturally contains the Alfa Romeo logo, forms, together with the lower grilles on the air intakes, a contemporary reinterpretation of the characteristic. Trilobo grille from Alfa Romeo. The headlights are also important new components in the front. Alfa Romeo now also equips both models – like the Tonale – with three-way Full-LED Adaptive Matrix headlights. Not only do they give a strong family resemblance, they are also reminiscent of the iconic Alfa Romeo SZ Zagato and the Alfa Romeo Proteo concept car, on which Alfa Romeo introduced such headlights. The three modules not only provide light that is as bright as daylight, but also form a dynamic flashing light. They contain two advanced technologies: Adaptive front light systemwhich continuously adapts the dipped beam to the vehicle’s speed and the conditions, and Glare-free High Beam Segmented Technology, which automatically detects ahead and oncoming vehicles in low light conditions and prevents dazzling drivers of other cars. Finally, the welcome and farewell function kicks in when the driver closes or opens the car. These new technologies provide greater efficiency in terms of lifetime and thus energy savings, greater safety due to less strain on the eyes and greater driving comfort. The layout of the LED rear lights – a perfect combination of style and advanced technology – is also new and emphasizes the sporty character of both models. The rear lights on the Stelvio are now made of transparent glass, those on the Giulia from smoked glass with a glossy black finish.

New fully digital instrument panel

The new Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio offer the most advanced technology a comfortable and connected driving experience, without compromising on the driving pleasure that is characteristic of Alfa Romeo. The most important innovation is dashboard with the historic telescope design. It includes a new fully digital 12.3-inch TFT display that provides access to all vehicle information and parameters for the autonomous driving technology. In addition, the driver can configure the cluster in three ways: Developed, relaxed and legacy. ‘developed’ represents the future of Alfa Romeo design and uses the central part of the screen, while the left and right parts remain unchanged. ‘relax’ focuses on comfort and does not display detailed vehicle information. ‘Inheritance’ is inspired by the iconic Alfa Romeo models of the 1960s and 1970s, with striking details such as the inverted numbers at the end of the speedometer row.

NFT technology and Alfa Connect Services

Alfa Romeo equips the new Giulia and Stelvio with an intuitive control Human Machine Interface (HMI) for all functions. Via the infotainment system, the driver has access to information, operation of the functions and Alfa Connect Services – a wide range of safety and comfort services that ‘Over the Air’ can be updated. The function My remote control e.g. includes various services, such as the option to remotely lock and unlock the doors and operate the lighting via smartphone and smart watch.

NFT technology (Non-Fungible Token) is available for the new Giulia and Stelvio – a first in the automotive world. Alfa Romeo introduced the NFT on tonal and it is now available for the entire model range. The technology is based on the concept of the so-called blockchain map, a coded and non-adapted digital register that records the car’s most important information. This special feature, which is user-friendly and durable, underlines Alfa Romeo’s innovative character. Based on the customer’s choice, NFT generates a certificate in which data about the use and maintenance of the car is recorded. This certificate can be used to substantiate the condition of the car and thus to support the residual value. The NFT certificate gives the owner/seller credibility and gives the buyer security when buying a used car.

The best driving dynamics in the segment

The driving dynamics of the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio are still the best in the segment for both cars. They offer an intuitive driving experience in the authentic spirit of the brand: with the right balance between Italian design, state-of-the-art engines, perfect weight distribution, special technology and an optimal weight-to-power ratio. The essence of Alfa Romeo’s current and past models is based on this ‘magic formula’ which, since Tonale (symbol of Alfa Romeo’s metamorphosis), has redefined 21st century sportiness – including durability.

Low weight and maneuverability: The impeccable and sporty dynamic handling of the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio is possible thanks to the extensive use of ultralight materials such as aluminum (for example for the engine block) and carbon (e.g. for the drive shaft), just like in motorsport.

Four-wheel drive with Q4 technology: developed for optimal road grip and predictable road grip for the best controllability of the car – with maximum performance, efficiency and safety. Q4 technology offers all the benefits of four-wheel drive, while providing better fuel economy, immediate response to driver input and the driving pleasure of a rear-wheel drive car. The heart of the Q4 system is Active Transfer Case (ATC), which continuously monitors traction levels and driver input to achieve the best performance.

With Alfa Romeo’s Q4 system, the car drives like a pure rear-wheel drive. When the tires approach their grip limit on the road, or according to the settings selected by the driver, the Q4 system will immediately (within 150 milliseconds) up to 50 percent of the engine’s torque to the front wheels. This prevents wheel slip, so the car delivers maximum performance.

Q2 mechanical self-locking differential: in the Ti version with the Veloce Pack, the Q4 all-wheel drive can be integrated with the Q2 mechanical self-locking differential. It increases maneuverability and improves the car’s sporty character. In addition, it guarantees perfect traction for optimal stability during high-speed cornering and maximum safety on slippery road surfaces by constantly monitoring the wheels and suppressing wheel slip.

Alfa Link suspension: Driving an Alfa Romeo is a sensation. This is partly due to the exclusive Alfa Link™ suspension. The front suspension consists of double wishbones with semi-virtual steering shaft (exclusive to Alfa Romeo) for the damping effect and direct and precise steering for uncompromising handling. That multi-link four-and-a-half-arm rear suspension – patented by Alfa Romeo – ensures optimal maneuverability in combination with excellent comfort. Exclusive to the Competizione version is the Alfa™ Active Suspension, the suspension with electronically controlled dampers that continuously adapts to driving conditions. The driver can choose a more sporty or more comfort-oriented handling.

Integrated Braking System (IBS): This electromechanical system combines stability control with the braking system. This guarantees very direct responses to the brake pedal – for a shorter braking distance – and results in significant weight savings. With the brake-by-wire system, the number of parts in the engine compartment is significantly reduced, which saves weight and further improves maneuverability.

Further contributing to the enormous driving dynamics of the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio in corners is extremely direct steering, the automatic 8-speed ZF gearbox with aluminum paddle shifters. And for the perfect balance between driving pleasure and driver assistance systems, the new Giulia and Stelvio offer a complete range Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for autonomy at level 2. This means that under certain circumstances the driver can entrust the control of the accelerator, brake pedal and steering wheel to the electronic systems in the car. These systems support the driver and give them extra comfort on long journeys. Hands must always remain on the steering wheel to maintain control of the car.

Clear range

With the new Giulia and Stelvio, Alfa Romeo follows the same structure as for the Tonale. This makes the choice very clear for the customer. Two versions are available: Super and Ten – both of which meet the needs of the most demanding customers in their own way. Super offers the complete, unique Alfa Romeo experience and can be equipped with Sprint package. The Ti trim emphasizes the characteristic elegance of both models and features the Veloce Pack for maximum sportiness and performance. The names Super, Sprint, Ti and Veloce are glorious names from Alfa Romeo’s history. Giulia and Stelvio are equipped with a 206 kW (280 hp) petrol engine with Q4 all-wheel drive as standard.

Special Competizione Edition – ultimate performance and style with NFT

In honor of the introduction of the new Giulia and Stelvio, Alfa Romeo introduces the special Competizione version. This version is sure to appeal to diehard Alfa Romeo enthusiasts. This is the top version of both models and is equipped with the Veloce Pack and is distinguished by the matte body color ‘light grey’ and the red brake calipers. The sporty appearance of the new Stelvio is accentuated by 21-inch alloy wheels. Furthermore, this version of the Giulia and Stelvio is equipped with a Harman/Kardon sound system and a dashboard and seats covered in leather with red stitching. Finally, this version includes privacy glass and Competizione branding on the sides and they are embroidered on the front headrests. The exclusive Alfa Active Suspension and NFT technology (Non-Fungible Token) is standard equipment in the Competizione. This emphasizes the exclusivity of each Competizione car and ensures originality.
