Mercury introduces new powerful outboards

MERCURY MARINE INTRODUCES THE INDUSTRY’S FIRST V10 OUTBOARDS – THE NEW 350HP AND 400HP VERADO ENGINES

Mercury Marine, a division of Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC), today introduced the industry’s first-ever V10 outboard with the official launch of its all-new 350hp and 400hp 5.7L Verado outboards.

In the tradition of the award-winning Verado brand, the new V10 engines are the quietest and smoothest in their class. They run 45 percent quieter at cruising speed than a leading competitor’s engines. In addition to NVH, the new Verados are not only compatible with the latest Mercury SmartCraft technologies, but are also offered with an optional 48V/12V dual-mode charging coil that interfaces seamlessly with the Navico Group’s Fathom e-Power System, an integrated auxiliary power. management system with lithium-ion battery. As a result, boat owners no longer need an onboard generator system.

“The new Mercury V10 Verado outboards are exactly what sailors have been asking for in a 350 and 400 horsepower platform,” said Chris Drees, Mercury Marine President. “They are powerful, smooth and quiet. They have many of the same fuel economy features found on our existing range of high horsepower engines. They also deliver the same premium experience on the water that has made Verado outboards famous. V10 Verado Outboards further reinforces Mercury’s leading position in the high-performance outboard market.”

V10 Verado outboards use many of the same industry-leading features and technologies that boaters love in the company’s popular V12, V8 and V6 platforms. The new V10 incorporates first-class refinements and versatility for a wide range of applications.

The V10 engines weigh just 316 kg and have the same class-leading 26-inch distance between the engine mounts as the V8 outboard engines. This makes them fully compatible with current boat designs. This lightweight, compact design delivers the performance boat owners are looking for, making them perfect for multi-engine applications or retrofitting new power.

Self-priming 5.7L V10 engine
The new platform features the first V10 naturally aspirated engine in the outboard motor industry. The engine has an industry-leading displacement of 5.7 liters and a four-chamber performance design to power both with exceptional speed and acceleration. An industry-leading 150 amp charging coil quickly charges the onboard batteries and intelligently supports the boat’s electrical system.

New underwater house
The platform’s new hydrodynamic gearbox is designed to improve performance and durability in a range of applications while maximizing fuel efficiency. Mercury engineers went back to the basics of engineering and designed the all-new Revolution X propeller, a perfect match in every way for the V10 Verado. Larger diameter and wider blades, combined with the deep gear ratio of the new gearbox, provide excellent handling, exciting acceleration and high efficiency from low speed to full throttle.

Efficient all-round performance
Calibrated to deliver full performance on standard fuel (95 RON), these outboards also feature fuel-saving technologies, a closed lean fuel system and Advanced Range Optimization (ARO).

Intuitive functions and advanced technologies
Adaptive Speed Control maintains engine speed despite changes in load or conditions, making it easier to navigate large waves and smoother cruising at low speeds. Transient Spark Technology electronically adjusts ignition timing for optimal low power.

The V10 Verado engines will also be compatible with a new Mercury electric steering system for boats with multiple outboards. Sales will start in February 2023. The new system offers improved steering response, drastically simplified installation and a reduction in energy consumption of more than 50%.

“We challenged our engineers to improve the acceleration and overall performance of the new V10 Verado outboards while making them quieter and lighter than competing outboards in this power class,” said Tim Reid, Mercury Marine’s vice president of product development and engineering. “Once again, they have exceeded expectations and incorporated technologies that make boat operation and maintenance intuitively simple.”

The development of V10 Verado outboards is the result of Mercury’s continued commitment to invest heavily in research and development and production capacity to keep pace with strong customer demand. To this end, the company has invested $2 billion since 2008 and expanded its production area to more than 275,000 square meters.
