Successful Domotex turns two –

Previous editions are missing Domotex Hannover in odd years a number of important exhibitors. It was no different this year. Although the visitor profile is very different, the competition in terms of exhibitors comes mainly from the biennial construction fair Bau in Munich (usually also in January, but this year from 17-22 April). Last year came Flanders Floor Days bee. This event for major Belgian floor covering manufacturers will also be held this year (May 22-25).

Despite the fact that, as expected, it resulted in a more limited offer at Domotex – still 730 exhibitors, by the way – the exhibitors were surprisingly positive about the results achieved. Organizer Deutsche Messe therefore speaks of a successful comeback, after two editions that had to be canceled due to far-reaching measures due to the alleged pandemic.

Domotex director Sonia Wedell Castellano was therefore very satisfied with the quality of the visitors, research showed that 80% consisted of decision makers. Half of the visitors had actually placed orders, and two-thirds said they would definitely visit the next edition.

In addition, the organization has entered into discussions with various groups of exhibitors at and around the fair. In December, talks were held with mainly German suppliers of wooden floors. In January, it was manufacturers of, among other things, wall-to-wall carpets and machine-made carpets. For years it has been discussed whether Domotex should not be held annually, but every other year.
The ball is now through the church: From the next Domotex Hannover, which is planned for 11.-14. January 2024, the world’s largest floor covering fair will be biennial and will take place in even years. The intention of most of the parties that have been spoken to is to be back in the party.

However, for the sector of (handmade) carpets, approximately the interval in halls 2 to 5, an annual frequency seems desirable. The organization is therefore investigating in what form an event can be organized for this purpose, where other exhibitors can also participate if desired.

Under Domotex, the prestigious Carpet Design Awards assigned. The eight winners were announced during the award ceremony on the second day of the fair:
